But like all fabrications, the older I became, the more fact, as delivered by the gossip rags, began to intrude on fiction and the real person of Tasmanian born Errol Flynn began to emerge in my awareness. Errol Flynn wrote in his autobiography "My Wicked, Wicked Ways" that he visited Rivera in 1935, introduced by another actress, Dolores Del Rio (who also appeared in "Flying Down to Rio"). My Wicked, Wicked Ways is by far the greatest autobiography I have ever read. In 1985, it was time for a male star to get the TV biopic treatment and it came with My Wicked, Wicked Ways: The Legend of Errol Flynn. And that's because Errol Flynn is a writer. Just because you had the best week of your life bashing out a couple of chapters in Monica's Malibu beach house, that's no reason to namecheck her in the book.
